Happy New Year ***2019***

Posted on

Two thousand and eighteen seemed to be the year that time sped up.  It seemed that we had loads of snow here in rural Northumberland then a crazy hot summer, then it was Christmas!! Looking back however, back such a lot has happened and it has been a great year for our business and on a personal level. We have been in our new studio, and new home just over a year now and it still feels an utter joy to come to work.

Earlier in the year I met with an historian and an anthropologist from Beamish museum with a view to working alongside them to make products for their new chemist in the village.  They were dressed in Edwardian clothing and we met in a traditional Edwardian living room.  The political correspondent Kate Adie, from the North East had donated an old apothecary recipe book to Beamish which belonged to her father who was a pharmacist.  We have helped formulate products using traditional methods and ingredients, whilst keeping up to date with current regulations.  The team have been working alongside their very own traditional printers to keep the packaging as authentic as possible.

Another exciting outlet for us was Broomhouse Farm in Lanchester.  Jane has the most beautiful farm shop which sells all sorts of gifts from local soaps and candles to handmade confectionery, preserves and biscuits as well as handmade kitchenware, cushions and throws.  They have their own on site butchers and tea room.  We are so delighted to have our products so beautifully displayed and they have been very warmly welcomed.

We have introduced a new fragrance ‘Feuilles de Tabac’ to our Eau de Parfum range.  It has been well received as both a male and female fragrance.

I was contacted a few weeks ago by the local newspaper the Hexham Courant who were interested in doing a feature on our business. They came out for a chat and later our products and myself were photographed for the launch of their new magazine.  We will be featured on 22 February.

Once again I would like to thank all the wonderful customers for supporting this little business. It has been lovely to meet a few of you when I have been attending various fairs and your feedback has been so kind.

Thank you so much.
